Melry Escoranes, 27, married, and a stone craft worker was stabbed by his father Francisco Esconares last Saturday night.
Based on the investigation conducted by SPO1 Rolito Jumao-as of the Homicide section of the Lapu-Lapu City Police office, Melry was watching "tong-its", a card game, at a neighbor's house, when his father came and stabbed him with a kitchen knife.
The victim sustained a deep wound in his left biceps. He was immediately rushed to the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital, while responding policemen immediately arrested the suspect.
Jumao-as said that based on the investigation he conducted, the stabbing happened because of family misunderstanding where both father and son are not on good terms.
Meanwhile, a man was declared dead on arrival at the Danao District Hospital after his elder brother shot him last Saturday night in barangay Ginacot, Danao city.
Nolipayo Hermosilla, 37, married, a motorcycle-for-hire driver of barangay Cabangahan was shot by his elder brother Mario Hermosilla, 39.
Based on the investigation conducted by the Danao police, both victim and suspect were attending a benefit dance in barangay Ginacot last Saturday night.
But when both of them were already drunk, an altercation that stemmed from a land dispute ensued. The suspect then went home and came back with a .9 mm pistol and shot the victim once in the left side of his head.
The suspect was collared by the barangay tanods and turned over to the responding policemen. The victim died just before reaching the hospital.
A case of parricide is now being prepared against the suspect who is currently detained at the Danao police station.
