Marijuana stalks uprooted

Elements from the police and the Philippine Army uprooted over 40,000 stalks of marijuana and seized a kilo of marijuana seeds during a joint operation in sitios Taro, Kabatbatan, and Bagakay in barangay Bayong, Balamban town Thursday morning.
But no one was arrested during the operation, as the area was already abandoned when the authorities arrived. The confiscated marijuana plants and seeds are now placed under the custody of the Balamban police.
Meanwhile, three alleged drug pushers were arrested in the towns of Moalboal and San Francisco late Thursday.
Jojieme Talledo, 27, who was arrested by the Moalboal police in Poblacion East, yielded several packs of suspected shabu. He is now detained at the Moalboal municipal jail.
In San Francisco, the police arrested Rolly Gabulane and Jesus Sukwahi during a buy-bust operation in sitios Lusbac and Ibabao in the barangay of Himensulan. - Norvie Misa
