Talisay P.O. lacks postmen

The Talisay City post office attributes the delay in the delivery of mails to lack of manpower.

City postmaster Serfely Benito Soria yesterday said his office has only eight postmen handling two to three areas each in the city.

Soria spoke in defense of his office after he personally received a complaint from Joe Bas, the father of Sangguniang Kabataan president Jo Florence Bas.

In his complaint, Joe said that it took 28 working days for a letter from a bank to reach him.

He said the incident happened in June when the letter from the bank was dispatched at the Cebu City post office on May 18, but took the Talisay City postal office 28 days to deliver the letter to him.

"It is not only me who is complaining about your services, but many others who also experienced delay in the delivery," the complaint went.

Soria told reporters he is aware of the various complaints from the people especially in the months of May and June.

He said the regional post office has already fielded an additional postman for the city to attend to the delivery of more than 1,500 letters everyday, including over 100 letters for overseas.

He also announced that letters for those living in Camella Homes in barangay Lawaan would be delivered either on a Saturday or Sunday. - Garry B. Lao
