Ex-judge caught for bringing gun

A retired judge was arrested by the Argao police last Wednesday afternoon after brandishing a pistol in public in barangay Poblacion, Argao town.

Sotero Camillo, 75, a former judge of the Regional Trial Court in Argao was arrested by policemen after his neighbor Godofredo Rubia reported the incident to the police.

SPO1 Edwin Miranda said Rubia reported that it has happened so many times now that he became fed up and called the police, even if Camillo stood as a sponsor in Rubia's wedding.

Miranda said that when the police arrived at the place they saw Camillo brandishing his 380 caliber pistol in plain view of the public.

Sensing that the policemen had arrived Camillo immediately tried to hide the pistol by tucking it behind his pants, but the police were confident he was armed. They disarmed him and brought him to the police station.

Camillo was only held at the police station for a few hours, he was later released as police were told that he could not have been conscious of his actions due to his old age and because he was "under medication".
