Woman, 3 others arrested for drugs

A woman was arrested for possession of illegal drugs Monday in Soong, barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City while three suspected drug pushers were nabbed by police during a buy-bust operation Tuesday evening in barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City.

Police searched the room of one Bernadette Barios at the Oasis Garden Condominium in barangay Mactan on the strength of a search warrant, and found shabu and drug paraphernalia. Barios is now detained at the Lapu-Lapu City Jail.

In a buy-bust operation, Edgar Alutaya, 32; Danilo Bañares, 29; and Florencio Baquero, 36, all of barangay Jagobiao were arrested.

Two other suspected pushers identified as Joel Aluya and Eugene Magale eluded arrest.

Confiscated from the suspects after their arrest were six decks of shabu and P200 marked money.

Members of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force led by PO2 Dionisio dela Peña led the operations after they were tipped off of the illegal activities of the suspects.

The suspects are presently detained at the Mandaue City Jail pending the filing of formal charges against them in court today.

Acting city police chief Pablo Lamosao created the task force headed by Superintendent Emmanuel Ughoc to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs in the city. -Norvie Misa and Jose P. Sollano
