Man nabbed for raping sister of live-in partner

A 30-year-old man was arrested Friday morning for allegedly raping the 18-year-old sister of his live-in partner somewhere in barangay Panugnawan, Medellin town the night before. The suspect, Carlos Diaz, was roused from his sleep when the police arrived to arrest him, unaware that the victim, accompanied by her mother, already reported the incident to the police shortly after the alleged rape that evening.

Diaz was still groggy from an evening's drinking spree when taken and detained at the town's police stockade while a rape charge was already filed in court against him. The victim narrated to the police that she and Diaz were having a drink that evening, with her father and brother in their house in barangay Daang Lungsod, of the town.

Diaz later asked her to go with him to buy some food or snacks they would eat while drinking. The victim acceded and went with Diaz on his motorcycle. But upon reaching a dark place, Diaz allegedly stopped his motorcycle, and embraced and caressed the victim. The victim resisted, was able to free herself and ran away while shouting for help. Diaz however caught up with her and allegedly raped her.

They still went to buy the food they earlier wanted to buy and returned home where Diaz continued drinking with her father and brother. But the victim sneaked up to her mother and recounted her ordeal with Diaz.
