63rd recorded killed: Man shot dead, vigilantes eyed

A man who has reportedly spent a lot of time in jail was shot dead in barangay San Roque by suspected vigilantes Tuesday night.

Michael Conejos, 25, was playing computer games along Palma Street around 11 p.m. when a man wearing a bonnet suddenly came and shot him several times in different parts of the body.

Conejos still managed to run to the house of a certain Macao Linabog where he fell and died at the door.

The assailant then fled onboard a motorcycle toward S. Osmeña Street while Conejos was brought to a funeral parlor.

Six empty shells and three deformed slugs of a .45 cal. pistol were later recovered from the crime scene.

When investigators arrived at the crime scene, they found a fully operational video karera machine inside Linabog's house, the caretaker was not around. The machine is now under custody of the city police Homicide Section.

Records at the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center show that Conejos has been in and out of the facility since 1997 until last year due to cases of robbery and theft.

Conejos was added to the unsolved cases of vigilante-type killings that started since late December. There are at least 63 victims now.

The other day suspected vigilantes also attacked but failed to kill Christopher Allado, a suspected shoplifter in barangay Sambag I.
