A policeman will be investigated for the alleged shooting of a man who is believed to be a member of a fraternity, yesterday dawn in barangay Poblacion Occidental, Consolacion town.
The Consolacion Police has identified the suspected policeman as SPO1 Mateo Pascual, and one of his two companions, a certain John Perez of Lapu-Lapu City, to be behind the shooting. The third person is still unidentified. Wounded during the shooting incident were Ariel Solivar, 23, of barangay Cabangcalan, Mandaue City and his companion Minor Inoc, 21, a resident of barangay Poblacion Occidental.
Solivar and his girlfriend were watching a Miss Gay pageant in barangay Tugbungan when he noticed three members of a rival fraternity milling around.
On their way home, Solivar and Inoc stopped at a vulcanizing shop in barangay Poblacion to have the wheels of their vehicle checked.
But while the two were waiting for the car's tires to be checked, the three suspects passed by and shot Solivar several times.
Solivar sustained several gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body, while Inoc was hit in his right shoulder.
Four empty shells of a .9 mm pistol and an empty shell of a .45 caliber pistol were found by responding policemen at the crime scene.
PO3 Marcelo Cometa of the Consolacion police said that based on his initial investigation, Pascual, though a policeman, is an adviser of a fraternity.
Cometa said the police are still continuing their investigation.
