President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is expected to be in Cebu today for the ceremonial switch-on of an electrification project in Badian and as guest speaker of an international business conference.
Arroyo plane will land at the Mactan Benito Ebuen Airbase at 12:00 noon and will immediately proceed to Waterfront Hotel in Lahug where she would address the 1st International Conference and Exhibition on Business and Information and Communication Technology.
Immediately after her speech, Arroyo will depart for Badian on board the presidential chopper for the ceremonial lighting of Korean Electric Company's Adopt-a-barangay Electrification Project in Talayong, Badian.
The Talayong electrification project is one of the 28 barangays in Cebu, which have benefited from KEPCO's adopt-a-barangay program. The president will also have an informal media interaction in Badian.
Deputy director general Leon Omoso of the Public Information Agency denied reports that the President has instructed them to restrain members of the media from asking questions related to the controversial wiretapped conversation of the president and Commissioner Virgilio Garcillano of the Commission on Elections.
Omoso said it is an informal interaction that would last for 15 to 20 minutes where members of the media can ask any question.
Arroyo together with KEPCO chief executive officer Han Joon Ho will also distribute school bags to 195 students in Talayong Badian today before she goes back to Cebu City for private meetings. The president will also grace the lunching activity of the Chi Spa Village in Shangri-La Mactan Island Resort at 5:00 pm today before she goes back to Manila at 6:30 p.m.
Secretaries Joseph Ace Durano of the Department of Tourism, Cerge Remonde of the Government Media Bureau, and Rafael Rotilla of the Department of Energy will be among the cabinet members that will accompany the President here.
