Planning – and actually doing – a trip

Brent Montecillo - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Most people have has fantasies of travelling off to some beautiful places. Such thoughts could fire them up for a good while, until the crushing reality comes to mind – travel costs money and for most travelers, and money is often scarce.

You may have started off this year with every intention of finally booking your bucket-list trip. But after a hard couple of dry months, you may have found your savings still feeling slim. Don’t despair – you may simply need to tighten your resolve.

Do not give up on your dream trip. Instead, keep heading towards it, a little step at a time. Say, first concretize your plan – where you want to go, where to stay, what you want to do. Then try to figure out how much it will all cost.

Once you have a figure in mind, start saving. It might take cutting on unnecessary day-to-day expenses – around the house, at work or on yourself. Little savings here and there can add up to a hefty sum.

Remember that you have dreamed of and decided to do this trip. Along the way, certain things may tend to sway you out of the idea. But, hey, you had all this thoroughly thought over already.
