Cebu’s UV Chorale in Japan

CEBU, Philippines — The multi-awarded University of the Visayas Chorale has just returned from a very successful performance at a friendship choir festival in Osaka, Japan. The UV Chorale members are brimming with gratitude to everyone who has supported them on this recent trip, where they shared their music with Japanese audiences.

Ms. Anna Tabita Abeleda-Piquero, UV Chorale conductor, expresses the group’s biggest thanks to “Sir Dodong and Ma’am Nena Gullas, John August Pamintuan, Masahiro Kishimoto, Mae Pon, Taka, for making it happen.” She also thanks the choir members for being such “hardworking batch of singers. Your music is beautiful. Looking forward to making more music adventures with you.”

In Japan, the group was able to make friends with choristers from Osaka University Mixed Choir, Wakayama University Mixed Choir, and Hamoru Kobe. These new Japanese friends took the time to show them around Osaka, for which kind gesture the UV Chorale is immensely touched.

The UV Chorale also thanks the Filipino composers and arrangers for entrusting their music to the group – John August Pamintuan, Joed Balsamo, Ily Matthew, Julius Teodoro, Arnel de Pano, and Saunder Choi. The great works of these musicians very well complement the collective talent of the choir group.
