Looking Great in any weather
CEBU, Philippines — For sure, everyone has experienced dressing up for a sunny day and later the rain pours. Or one may have been dressed for a cold day, and the sun soon shines angrily. The weather, as everyone knows, is really unpredictable – more so in a tropical country, like the Philippines.
And so, even now that the weather bureau has confirmed the end of the dry season and the start of the rainy days, the weather may still turn unexpectedly. At times, nature gives signs. But often there’s just no hint at all how a day will turn out to be.
Wearing the wrong kind of outfit is not only a major fashion faux pas, it’s also very inconvenient and uncomfortable. No one likes a muddy pair of feet – not to mention waterlogged leather shoes. Conversely, it can present a health hazard being so wrapped up on hot, sunny day.
In short, it matters what one wears, either in the aesthetic or practical sense. But, hey, can there really be an all-weather outfit? Some creative individuals say there is.
Of course, it takes heeding the weather forecast, first and foremost. Where there’s no weather forecast or any visible sign of how the next few hours will be, it’s wise to just be ready. For instance, on a sunny day during the rainy season, one is smart to do away with jeans – and smarter to bring a jacket along, just in case.
No matter how tempting it is to wear skimpy tops that allows the skin to breathe under the heat of the tropical sun, the girl will regret it once it begins to drizzle. Such fix may be averted or resolved by bringing a jacket or cardigan that can be easily thrown over the shoulders in case of an unexpected downpour.
As a general rule for the wet season, anything that goes below the knees may just have to be avoided for the time being. That part of the legs from ankle to knee is sure to get wet when one is caught outside in the rain, even with an umbrella. With the right rain gear, the part from the knee upwards is easy to secure. Long pants and tights will only do with the right kind of boots.
The ideal material for an outfit would be cotton. It absorbs heat; in this country, it can still be hot when it rains. And cotton is good at keeping one warm when the environment is cold.
To compensate for the gloomy day, an outfit of a bright color can do the trick. A stylish top or jacket could also add some excitement to the look. On days when it continually rains, wearing shorts to work or to the mall can be an interesting option, especially when matched with high boots. It’s also nice to think sneakers and hoodies.
There are indeed a lot of outfit ideas to spice up a damp day. The rain is no excuse for looking lousy.
