Four New Phones
CEBU, Philippines — Four new phones were introduced in Cebu last week by HMD Global, the home of the Nokia brand. No less than HMD Global Philippines Country Manager Shannon Mead led the occasion in highlighting the finer points of the “Nokia 7 Plus,” the “New Nokia 6,” the “Nokia 1,” and the “Nokia 8810 4G.”
Topped by a 6-inch display and powered by an octa-core CPU, the “Nokia 7 Plus” runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) out of the box. Positioned as Nokia’s new flagship model in the Philippines, the smartphone boasts an optimum combination of processing power, elegant design, functional features, monthly security updates and more.
The “New Nokia 6” is essentially an updated version of the 2017-released “Nokia 6” handset. Its highlights include a glass front and aluminum chassis, a conveniently-positioned rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, 4 gig-RAM, 64 gig-storage model variants and more.
Running on an optimized Android version named “Android Oreo (Go Edition),” the “Nokia 1” is built around what users need, not around unnecessary features. As an entry- level class device, the “Nokia 1” combines the best performing software and hardware processing power, and available at the most reasonable price range.
The handset model also brings back Nokia’s “Xpress-on Covers” feature that was initially introduced in 1998 with the Nokia “5110.”
A part of the “Nokia Originals” series, the “Nokia 8110 4G” is an updated version of the 1996-released “Nokia 8810.” Made iconic in appearing in the 1999 sci-fi film “The Matrix,” the updated “8110 4G” maintains the slider form of the original “8110.”
Built with provisions for 4G connectivity, the handset runs on a KaiOS operating system which can run applications like Facebook, a new version of the Snake game, and more.
All four models were globally introduced in February this year during the 2018 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. More information on the handsets is hosted on Nokia’s official online channels. (YRST).
