Celebrating a Beautiful Partnership

Dezsa C. Rubio - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - With the country’s numerous tourist attractions, the Philippines is one of Asia’s most popular tourist hubs. The travel-and-tourism industry contributes significantly to the local economy. For this year, the industry is expected to bring in more for the country’s gross domestic product.

For the travelers, the various services that travel-and-tour agencies offer bring a lot of convenience. The booking and itinerary planning alone are already such a tedious process. If travelers choose to, this part can be well taken care of by travel agencies.

Among the forerunners of the industry are the airline companies. The relationship between travel agencies and airline companies is like ‘right hand, left hand’ working together to make the industry work. The service of one complements the service of the other.

In recognition of such beautiful partnership, Korean Air recently went out of its way to express the company’s appreciation for its partner travel agencies. At a dinner party at the Ibiza Beach Club of Movenpick Hotel, Korean Air gave due recognition to its best-performing partners. It was the airline’s annual Top Travel Agent Producers Night, with the CEOs of the 10 outstanding travel agencies in Cebu in attendance, in blue-and-white attires.

Korean Air’s Cebu manager Jong Woo Park was there, together with passenger sales executive Ann Momongan and sales rep Nina Marie Tunacao, personally welcoming and thanking their industry partners. The top five travel agencies were Global Link Travel & Tours (Andrew and Jeanne Teh), Travelways International (Alan Carvajal), Cebu Fortune Travel (Aida Uy), Grand Hope Travel (Angelita Dy) and Grand Holidays (Cherrylyn Callelero).  The others were Leisure Travel (Sheila Colmenares), Destination Specialists (Marget Villarica), Uni-Orient (Jerome Mendaros), Travel Services (Richelle Cobar) and Worldwide Travel (Zenaida Chua).

“We hold this event annually to express our gratitude and appreciation to our Cebu agents for the continued support and contribution to Korean Air, for the wonderful friendship and partnership throughout the years,” Ann Momongan said.

During the occasion, everyone enjoyed a delectable 12-course indulgence of grilled meats and seafood – plus a magnificent view of the beach at sunset.
