CEBU, Philippines -  After stamping their respective classes that resulted into several podium finish in the country's biggest motorsport event last year, the spirited drivers of Toyota Team Cebu aim to shift their level of competitiveness to higher gear in the racing circuit through the 2017 Vios Cup Season 4.

Led by team principal Jose Manuel Cuenco and team manager John Velasco, the Lord Seno-skippered Toyota Team Cebu that is powered by Jette Calderon, Sean Velasco, Oscar Suarez and Bobby Pangilinan relished their glorious moments during the 2016 Vios Cup Season 3 in a simple yet meaningful thanksgiving party over the weekend at Casino Español de Cebu.

Despite having no racetrack of their own, the Cebuano speed demons gamely held their ground in the face of a tough opposition from their fancied rivals in Manila on the way to rack up championship trophies in the promotional class, sporting class and super sporting class from the first three of the four-stage series.

"You definitely showed to the guys out there in Manila what you've got," said Cuenco. "For 2017, I hope we can better what we did before. We race it at a higher level. I know you can do it because you've been racing for a long time."

That is certainly the direction they have to take as they look forward to the new racing season with renewed vigor and deep sense of optimism.

"2016 is our year. It was a good year for us. For 2017, there will be many challenges ahead of us. But we just have to enjoy the sport and have fun and hopefully double our accomplishments," said Pangilinan.

Seno, for his part, credited the sweet taste of success they savored to their strong bond and great team effort.

"In racing, no man is an island. You need the support of everybody. And when you lift the trophy, you do not lift your heart but the hearts of everybody who help you in your success," said Seno. "More than racing, it's the passion and love we shared and the friendship we established that matter most for us."

Suarez echoed Seno's sentiments. "Without the synergy of our team, we would have not won all these trophies," said the jewelry and metal craft magnate.

Sean Velasco too heaped praise on his teammates by telling them that, "I am merely a tool of your hardwork."

Still armed with a unified force that is even getting stronger, Toyota Team Cebu yearns to rev up its performance with fervor burning in their hearts to reap more glory and honor to Cebu in the very challenging yet super exciting world of motorsports. (FREEMAN NEWS)
