“Sinanduloy” Exhibit
CEBU, Philippines - Fineries worn by the Sinanduloy Cultural Troupe in previous Sinulog celebrations mainline an ongoing exhibit at the Upper Ground Floor, City Wing section of SM Seaside City.
Slated to run throughout this year’s Sinulog celebration, the exhibit features a number of the troupe’s “Best in Costume” award-winning designs from previous Sinulog holdings – and also highlights videos about the cultural troupe that has represented Tangub City, Misamis Occidental in Sinulog celebrations as “Tribu Sinanduloy” for 20 years.
Formed in 1992, the troupe takes its name from “sinanduloy” – a term which loosely translates to a mixture of songs and dances. It adapted the name owing to the different dancers, singers, instrumentalists and creative individuals who comprise its roster of members.
“Sinanduloy” has been a consistent winner of the Sinulog’s “Sinulog-Based Category”, amassing 11 grand prizes, Best in Street Dancing, Best in Musicality and Best in Costume awards.
Held in line with the 25th founding anniversary of the cultural dance troupe this year, the exhibit also features informative videos about Tangub City – highlighting the “Dalit Festival” held every September in honor of St. Michael the Archangel, the “Christmas Symbols Festival” touted as the longest running festival of its kind in the country, which starts on first week of December to the last week of January the following year, a number of the city’s notable attractions and more.
