Filipino Labong na May Saluyot

CEBU, Philippines – You should try this dish and you will soon develop a taste for it. Bamboo shoot recipes are unique to Filipino cuisine. This is an easy-to-make recipe by simple boiling and simmering.

Ingredients:

5 cups Water

½ kg Fresh Labong (bamboo shoots), washed and cut into

thin slices

Saluyot (okra) leaves

Pang-gisa (sauté) mix

Bagoong isda or patis (fish sause)

Directions:

• Combine water and bamboo shoots and bring to a boil until shoots are tender.

• Add saluyot leaves and sauté mix. Stir and season with bagoong isda or fish sauce.

• Cover and let cook for some time.

• Transfer dish in a serving bowl and serve.

Preparation time is approximately 15 minutes. This recipe serves four persons.
