A treat of local favorites
CEBU, Philippines – By the name of the restaurant alone, it is easy to tell that Pusô – the main restaurant of Quest Hotel & Conference Center Cebu – showcases wonderful local and Filipino cuisine. And for this month of Sinulog, both the hotel and the restaurant have something special.
New room-service options have been introduced – comfort food favorites. Local comfort foods like batchoy, arrozcaldo and native chicken tinola are offered. The menu also includes Korean and Japanese items such as galbijjim, katsu, and assorted sushi platters – so guests have more options to choose from.
Merienda set menus are also part of the new offerings; local favorites may be enjoyed from 2 to 6 p.m., throughout January. The set menus include a serving of pancit palabok, camote balls and panadan glazed bico; another set of pancit lomi, Cebuano torta and sapin-sapin; another set of guinataang halo-halo, cassava cake and ube fritters; and still another set of fried banana with langka in vanilla sauce, kutchinta and dinuguan with puto. Each set serves three persons and comes with a pitcher of iced tea – all for a friendly Sinulog price.
Another treat is Chef Neil Vaño’s cake of the month, the “Mangoconut” with ripe mango slices, chocolate cremeux, and mango and coconut mousse on flourless chocolate sponge cake and a coconut macaroon base.
And, yes, there’s Pusô Restaurant’s Sinulog offering of a Filipino fiesta buffet, a culinary quest exploring the country’s most popular regions and their native specialties, including Bicol Express, laing, IloIlo Batchoy, balbacua, Cebu’s lechon belly, and even flavoured balut, only until January 23, for lunch and dinner.
