“The Sound of Music”
CEBU, Philippines – The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical “The Sound of Music” is once again set to wow the Cebuano audience. The Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion (CIC)–Cebu brings the popular favorite to the live stage, after presenting “The Flower Drum Song” in December last year.

The Von Trapp children are played by Kiara Lynne Torralba and Amity Grace Rosell as Liesel; and Gerald Lauron and CIC-Cebu faculty member Benedict Diola as Rolf.
Sister Martha Gamolo of the Daughters of Charity and alumna Joan Malgapo play the role of Mother Abbess, Dr. Shawn Espina and Johnie Lim as Max Detweiler, and alumnae Atty. Anika Apalisok-Fernandez and Tricia Rivera-Gullas as Baroness Elsa Schraeder.

Proceeds of this “The Sound of Music” production go to CIC-Cebu’s Community Outreach Services (CES) program, which gives tutorials to pupils of adopted schools, conducts community feeding, medical missions, and home visitations; and provides aid to victims of calamities and scholarships to deserving students, among other activities.
“The Sound of Music” was last presented at the CIC-Cebu Auditorium in 1981, or 34 years ago, as one of the highlights of the school’s centennial celebration.
