UP-Cebu Cookout on November 13

CEBU, Philippines – The University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu annual Cookout is scheduled on November 13 at the UP Cebu Grounds. The event showcases the talents of UP Cebu students, and this year features live performances by Filipino bands Rivermaya, Missing Filemon, Powerspoonz and many others.

Dubbed as "UP Cookout 2015: The Change of Thrones," this year's Cookout highlights a discourse on the essence of youth vote, making the event more than just live performances, food and having fun.

"We believe that young voters, a huge chunk of the voting population, can change Philippine politics if we rally behind issues that matter the most to our society," said UP Cebu Student Council Chairperson Justine Balan.

The UP Cebu Cookout started in 1978 as a simple gathering among the school community, talking about important matters over food. According to Prof. Raymund Fernandez, UP Cebu alumnus and professor of Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Painting, Cookout also served as celebration of the campus' victory as one of the first campuses to ever reinstitute the Student Council after the declaration of Martial Law.

In time, the simple gathering developed into a huge event wherein UP Cebu students take up socially relevant issues through a talent showcase.

This year's event is co-presented by Globe, OLX.ph, Juanderlust, and Crown Regency. For ticket orders and more updates, the contact numbers are 09177706665 and 0946608180, or through https://www.facebook.com/UPCebuCookout.
