Oktoberfeast by the Pool

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines – Originally an annual fete created by and for a royal Bavarian couple, the hundred-year old German Oktoberfest is today a commercial festival around the world – to celebrate community, beloved German cuisine and, of course, great beer of all kinds.

At Quest Hotel Cebu, much revelry is in order. But instead of the traditional 16-day festivities, Quest has it all month long with a frothy draught beer drink-all-you-can promo at The Pool Bar. From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily, delicious draught beer may be enjoyed in glasses, mugs or pints at a special price per person, and it goes well with a variety of Pool Bar chow like clubhouse sandwiches or potato crisps, sold separately.

Of course, German sausages are very much part of the Oktoberfest celebration. Imported German sausages are served the whole month – Munich weisswurst, knackwurst with cheese herbs, veal bratwurst, and more – all prepared any way you like by simply asking the hotel chefs. For a little additional charge, these may be served with sauerkraut, the German noodle spaetzle, or marble potato on the side. Home-made pretzels and festive Oktoberfest cookies are also available at the restaurant’s Bread Library, which offers a whopping 50 percent price slash-down on all breads on display, from 7 p.m. onwards.

In addition, certain weekend offers at Pusô Bistro & Bar remain, including seafood dinner buffets on Saturdays with the freshest squid, prawns, snapper, clams and other mussels; or a leisurely Sunday lunch buffet with succulent whole lechon. For inquiries and reservations, the contact numbers are 402-5999 and 230-5888.
