“Simbahan sa Sugbo”

Yasunari Ramon Suarez Taguchi - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The finalists and winners of the recently concluded "Simbahan sa Sugbo" Photography Competition were announced in the awarding ceremony held at The Gallery of the Ayala Center Cebu last Saturday, July 25.

Photographers Richodavid Rebecca, Leo Molina and Sidney Dyguani respectively won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place - besting more than 220 entries by photographers based in different parts of the country.

Organized by Pusod, the Open Organization of Visual Artists, Inc. and with the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, the competition kicked off in May this year.

The photo contest was aimed to document different places of worship in the province - to inspire the community to support the heritage preservation projects that are currently undergoing for these structures.

The top 50 photographs entered in the "Simbahan sa Sugbo" competition - including the winning photos of course - are on display at The Gallery of the Ayala Center Cebu. The exhibit runs until today, July 30. (FREEMAN)
