Xin Nian Cebu Chinese New Year
CEBU, Philippines - One of Cebu's premier lifestyle and entertainment destinations welcomed the Year of the Wooden Sheep with a bang on Saturday, February 21. The Ayala Center Cebu hosted the "Xin Nian: Cebu Chinese New Year Festival" at the Terraces.
Essentially a cultural show to celebrate the Chinese New Year, the event showcased a revue of traditional and contemporary Chinese dance and music performances by the Lion and Dragon Dancers of the Hong Seng Association, the University of Cebu Dance Company, and the members of the Cebu Long Se Youth Association. Wushu demonstrations by the Chian Hsi Chuan International Arts Society were also part of the show's highlights.
The title holders of this year's Miss Cebu beauty pageant were also present during the occasion, modeling the selection of Chinese dynasty fineries from the private collection of entrepreneur Elizabeth Gan Go.
The cast of the Colegio de la Immaculada Conception's production of "Flower Drum Song" performed excerpts from the musical as the show finale - making the 5th holding of the annual event the grandest, to date. (FREEMAN)
