Dressing for Your Body Type
CEBU, Philippines - Women are often conscious about the way they appear- from their hair, to their face, down to the clothes they wear. It is probably because almost everyone has their own physical insecurities. And what more, it feels good to be appreciated and complimented with the way you look.
It is a frustration to many in figuring out how to look better out of their natural body shapes. Whether the body is pear-, ruler-, hourglass-, or apple-shaped, most would not be comfortable revealing their natural curves and other imperfections. True to many, the main goals of dressing up meticulously are either to highlight an asset or hide a flaw.
With the new variance of clothing style and materials, the options for women are widen, making it easier for them to choose their clothing preference whether for a casual day or a special occasion. Most would take advantage of the clothes they regret having bought. But little do they know that it only takes simple tricks to make them appear almost correctly how they wish to look with the use of these clothing.
For a slimmer and slender look
Black may look shadowy but it could be anyone's best friend. It is a universal and classic color that is known to many as an automatic slimming machine. That's probably something that is not needed to be explained about.
For a taller appearance
Lines and patterns are the keys here. In symmetry, vertical lines or patterns help one look taller and even slimmer. For longer-looking legs, a loose shirt or blouse paired with shorts or mini skirt can also be the answer.
For the skinny
Wearing loose clothing makes one appear bigger - the looseness can hide the lack in size. Contrary to black or dark colors, bright colors - especially white - add to the shape. Horizontal stripes on blouses work the same way.
To brighten up the skin color
Darker colors have the effect of brightening up skin color. Also, bright yellow, red, pinkish and blue compliment a fair skin tone.
Revealing… or altering the curves
Layers may be used for sectioning off the body. As popularized by today's celebrities, color-blocking or mixing patterns help emphasize or alter curves.
No-nos
Maxi skirts can make one look shorter in height. Also, layered blouses can emphasize unsightly bulges and widen the upper body. (FREEMAN)
