"Yolanda: A Year After" Photo Exhibit
CEBU, Philippines – The winning photographs of the Capitol-spearheaded "Yolanda: A Year After" Photo Contest were recognized in a three-day exhibit which ran from November 14 to 16 in the 3rd level of SM City Cebu.
Titled "Yolanda: A Year After" Photo Exhibit, the show and the competition that preceded it are part of a series of activities commemorating Northern Cebu's recovery after last year's super typhoon.
Formally launched on October 15, the competition garnered more than 250 entries in all three categories - the "Yolanda Emergency Response and Search & Rescue," "Yolanda Relief Operations," and "Yolanda Rehabilitation and Recovery Phase" categories.
The competition was open to all photographers of all ages, and required its participants to submit photos taken from Northern Cebu's Yolanda-affected areas, which include the areas of Tuburan, Tabogon, Medellin, Daanbantayan, San Remegio, Tabuelan, Bantayan, Santa Fe, Madridejos, Sogod, Borbon, San Francisco, Poro, Tudela, Pilar and Bogo City.
Organized by the Province of Cebu with the support of SM City Cebu, the Ayala Center Cebu, Smart Communications and LENS (a group of Cebu's photojournalists), the "Yolanda: A Year After Photo Exhibit" is a traveling exhibition.
The exhibit opens at Ayala Center Cebu tomorrow, November 21, and then proceeds to the Museo Sugbo afterwards.
