Regarding Philosophy

Agustin I. Sollano, Jr. - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Atty./Dr. Marcelo M. Bacalso invited me to be the guest in his prestigious radio program entitled “Mar y Cielo” (Spanish for “Sea and Sky”) over DYHP (612 khz. on the AM band) today Sunday, September 7, at 1:30-2:30 p.m.

He announced last Sunday that he would deviate from the usual format. Instead of Visayan, the medium will be English because, according to him, his program will be transmitted via the Internet to various English speaking countries where there are Filipinos. The topic will be on Philosophy, which is my major field of specialization. In his announcement he mentioned that among the part-time professors at CNU, I am the only Ph.D., Philosophy (modesty aside). He himself is an Ed. D. and the others are Ph.D., Education/Educational Management, etc.

In this connection, I would like to invite my former philosophy students at the San Carlos Seminary College, University of Cebu, Cebu Normal University, and University of San Carlos to tune in to the above-mentioned radio program.

Some of these former students of mine are now teaching Philosophy subjects in various colleges and universities here and abroad; others are Monsignori like Bishop Julito Cortes of Dumaguete and Archbishop John Du of Palo. Many are now Division Superintendents, Supervisors, Principals in the academe such as Dr. Cyrus Elejorde, Dr. Ramil Uytico, Dr. Ofelia Remonilo, to mention just a few.

They are all invited to hear over the radio the voice of their former philosophy professor.
