Last October 25, 2013, Qube Gallery's "Art for Bohol" benefit exhibit in partnership with Islands Souvenirs' #BangonSugbohol movement and the Gawad Kalinga Foundation was launched at The Qube Gallery, The Henry Hotel in Banilad, Cebu City. The exhibit ran until October 26.
Knowing that the benefit exhibit was for the victims of Bohol earthquake, there was a tremendous response form the public…artists, art collectors, and art enthusiasts, and Cebuanos all ready to extend a helping to the victims in Bohol. A few of the artists who donated artworks were Kimsoy Yap Jr., Dennis "Sio" Montera, Javy Villacin, and art collector Maia Villarica Franco donated some pieces from her personal collection.
Some pieces from up-and-coming fashion accessories designer Neil San Pedro's popular cocktail rings collection were donated, as well as prototype pieces from Kenneth Cobonpue-founded design house Hive's future collection, while artists from Street Konect who did live t-shirt customizing of purchased Island Souvenirs' #BangonSugbohol t-shirts.
One hundred percent (100%) of the profits from Qube Gallery's"Art for Bohol" benefit exhibit went to the Gawad Kalinga Foundation to secure relief goods for the Bohol victims of the October 15 earthquake. And though the exhibit was organized in under 48 hours by Qube Gallery owners Jon Gotiong and Maris Holopainen together with Islands Souvenirs' Jay Aldeguer, over P200,000.00 was raised in just two nights. Kudos indeed to the organizers and the kind-hearted people…God bless you all!
