Baby is Turning 1!

CEBU, Philippines - Some people believe that the first birthday party is optional, but to most parents like Paco and Monique Jarque, it is one of the most important events in the life of their little one, Gael. It is a festivity with family and friends and  is a perfect time to  celebrate Gael's progress from an infant to an adorable one year old, a little personality emerging   with an amazing ability to learn.

Bursting with innovative ideas, Monique prepared a cowboy and Indian themed party at the Ranch restaurant that fortunately also carries the same motif.    Invitees were encouraged to don their favorite western get-up and almost everyone complied.

Proud grandparents Cuco del Gallego , Cisco and Marilen Jarque were special guests as were other relatives and friends close to the family.

To keep the kids occupied yet entertained, a cupcake station was set up  in which they  could decorate their own  multi-colored  cupcakes with  sprinkles, M&M's and icing.  One of the highlights of the party was the live pony which enabled the kids to experience horseback riding around the garden.

Naturally the birthday bash was as much a party for the loving parents as it was for Gael, and while admittedly he won’t remember his big day, everyone present will. The photos with him in his cowboy outfit will be priceless down the road. It has been a year of wonder, growth and change for everyone...a celebration was definetly in order. 

Here are some tips on how to plan a lively and successful kids party:

Send out invitations to see how many people are going to be at the party. With the number of people counted up, be sure to have more than enough food to include the adults, too.

Prepare activities. You can do crafts activities for girls and contests for boys who are competitive at any age.

Most of the kids are easily drawn to eye candies. This is why it is important to make a nice presentation when it comes to the food that will be served during the party. Make sure they look as well as taste good. 

Lastly, have fun! Don't get mad when they want to do something different from what you have planned. Kids are spontaneous and want to do things their way. Save the discipline and corrections for days other than their special day.
