CV pushes holding of reg'l presscon tilt

CEBU, Philippines - Despite natural disasters that struck Central Visayas recently, it was agreed during an October 30 command conference led by Department of Education-7 Regional Director Carmelita T. Dulangon that Region VII will be joining the 2014 National Schools Press Conference in Angeles City, Pampanga by April.

In line with this annual activity, Region VII will hold the 2013 Regional Schools Press Conference on December 4 to 6, to be hosted by the Division of Naga City, Cebu.

A total of 140 delegates in the elementary and secondary schools are expected to join the seven writing categories in both English and Filipino mediums; 28 for radio broadcasting; 20 school paper advisers cum coaches in the Individual Category; four SPAs/coaches in Radio Broadcasting; two Division Education Program Specialist assigned as Division Journalism Coordinator (English or Filipino); and a Schools Division Superintendent/Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, or a total of 203 participants from each of the 19 school divisions in the region.

Dr. Dulangon, in Regional Memorandum 690 dated October 31, instructed that the Division which had conducted its Division Schools Press Conference is advised to send its List of Delegation to the host Division the soonest possible time, copy furnished the Regional Office. "Please indicate number of males and females. This will facilitate in determining the number of delegates expected to attend," she directed.

Schools interested in the search for Outstanding School Paper Adviser and Outstanding Campus Journalist for the elementary and secondary levels are advised to submit their complete documents endorsed by the Schools Division Superintendent on or before November 29. "Only those with official endorsement signed by the Schools Division Superintendent shall be accepted for evaluation," Dulangon added.

Qualified to participate in the 2013 RSPC are only those schools with existing school paper or school publication. SPAs or coaches are to bring a copy of their school paper, published either March 2013 or the latest publication for School Year 2013-2014.
