Pawpalooza

CEBU, Philippines -  The 2nd annual BTC Pawpalooza festival was indeed a fun-filled day with a range of activities that pets and their owners got to enjoy.

Free consultation and vaccination services were given to over 100 pets courtesy of Cebu Veterinary Doctors (CVD), one of the mall’s tenants. Pet owners also enjoyed and learned from the Basic Tricks demonstration given by dog trainer Chad Badinas.A Halloween fashion show and contest organized by the Cebu Shih Tzu Club and Cebu Chihuahua Club gathered contestants and their pets dressed in different costumes with John Philipp Wee and Juliet Soon as winners.

An event highlight was Pawsonalities, a photo exhibit of Cebu personalities and pet advocates with their furry babies. Featured were TV-5 Station Manager Karla Kintanar-Fernandez and PBA Hall of Famer, 4-time MVP of the PBA, number 1 of the 25 Greatest Players of the PBA and all-time scoring recordholder with 18,996 points and player with most achievements made in the PBA  “El Presidente” Ramon Fernandez, fashion designers Oj Hofer and Jun Escario, fashion blogger Kym Maitland-Smith, student and athlete Mark Lotzof, chef Gayle Urgello-Cheok, nurse Love Quitevis, entrepreneur and tri athlete Louie Villacin, CVD Owner and Veterinarian Dr. Odysseus Camarillo, student Julian Cobonpue and businesswoman & Mutya ng Pilipinas President Jacqueline Tan. What made you decide to become a dog owner?

Having Fluffy makes everything seem okay. She’s always there for me. When I’m happy, sad, or any emotion, she’s there.

What has been your biggest joy as a pet owner?

That joy when I come home and she’s there waiting for me. She loves me unconditionally no matter what. Plus, she’s the cutest.

There should always be an area in all public places for pets.   Pet owners should always take care and love their pets. They shouldn’t hurt them intentionally.

What has been your biggest joy as a pet owner?

My biggest joy has been spending time with my dogs. They are among the greatest companions I have ever had. It brings happiness to see the mutual joy shared by pet and owner.

I think the best part about having pets is the companionship that they bring. There is no better feeling than having your best friend over 24/7!

Wish list on pets rights and tips on responsible ownership?

Owning a pet is a privilege but it also comes with responsibilities. It’s a lifetime commitment so if you can’t make the commitment, don’t get a pet. My tip for everyone is to just be kind to your pets and shower them with love. Remember you are their world.
