Conference of the Asia Apostleship of Prayer in Cebu City
CEBU, Philippines - The Apostleship of Prayer is a worldwide organization headed by the Holy Father himself that officially promotes the Sacred Heart devotion and prays for the Pope's intentions. From the beginning since 1896, the AP has been entrusted by the Pope to the Society of Jesus.
The Most Sacred Heart Archdiocesan Shrine in Cebu was chosen to host the conference this year. For the past 50 years the meeting was held in different Asian Countries, twice in Manila, and now for the first time in Cebu. This may be the Lord's way of blessing and confirming us as a newly erected Archdiocesan Shrine of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The theme of the conference is: "Recreating the Apostleship of Prayer." This is in response to the very important mandated of the Holy Father three years ago to recreate the AP. Participants for this meeting are the Jesuits AP National Directors and their co-workers in the promotion of the devotion to the Sacred Heart. They are coming from Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, South Korea, India, East Timor, Thailand, Indonesia, Guam (Micronesia), Japan, Macao, Tahiti, Vietnam, and of course from the Philippines.
The convenor of the Conference is Fr. Claudio Barriga, SJ, the Secretary of the Society of Jesus on the Apostleship of Prayer in Rome, who works directly under the General of the Society of Jesus.
The Apostleship of Prayer is for those who feel the need of God, and for those that want to associate their life and their heart to the life and heart of Jesus.
Jesus is inviting you to work with him in his project of bringing compassion to this disheartened world of ours. Be part of the worldwide network of prayer. Support the mission of Christ in his Church through daily offering of your life to the Lord and praying for the monthly intentions of the Holy Father for the mission of the universal Church and missionary intentions every year.
Drop by and inquire about the AP at the Sacred Heart Parish, 242 D. Jakosalem St. (FREEMAN)
