No-nonsense fengshui Life ghost On!

CEBU, Philippines - The Chinese month of August is the observance of the Hungry Ghosts Month.  Hungry ghosts are released from whatever spiritual dimensions they are in and their wish is their command style!

What is a hungry ghost?

It is one who died  by way of an accident, ill health or murder (especially crimes of passion – one where one lover gets caught in the act  and killed by the jealous one- or one who after killing the offender(s) also commits suicide!), raped and killed, or an air crash and sea vessel sinking victim, to cite a few!

So this dead person literally cannot accept their human death and deny their spirits from moving on to the afterlife by remaining as ghosts here on earth, hungry for justice or whatever motivations!  They are spiritual rebels with or without a cause.

As they are released back to co-mingle with humans  during Chinese Ghost Month, they become like gremlins in the movie wreaking havoc or playing upon humans in varied ways. Most popularly, via occupation of homes or offices; and worst, possession of human souls!

They  manifest as poltergeists, paranormal activities or Exorcist-like movie possession by evil spirits of  human victims!

Horrifying or not,  here are Ghost Month tips:

First,  food  offerings to the departed especially in a to-whom-it-may-concern mode are done outside the door of premises (restaurant, building or home – condo unit or single detached).  This takes the form of sweets like rice cakes with or without liquor or beer or rice wine with incense offerings (for the duration of the ghost month).  This is for peaceful coexistence with the hungry ghosts out in the offing like children during Halloween, doing trick or treats at the places they take fancy on!

Second, using red color in wardrobes (even underwear) for protection and luck, similar to birthday fetes and other festivities in Chinese culture.

Third, refrain from new undertakings in life. Here is the bucket list for these:

•             Never answer a suitor this period lest you or the subject be possessed!

•             Never launch or open new projects.

•             Never wed or marry, civil or church!

•             Never embark on new investments, businesswise.

•             Never rent, buy or invest in a new property during this period, just look and see first.

This is a period to  beware of the metaphor of hungry ghosts for living people;  wherein  one gets shortchanged or fooled gullibly into financial perdition.  Cases of where you give your hand in kindness yet others want the better of you by trying to get an arm-and-a leg, even your very soul, so to speak!

This explains why globally especially in Chinatowns, business is at its lowest sales for the period. But life ghosts on! So lie low and be at peace even if stock and real estate, even lovelife markets are nil for these moments.  Just wait it out in patient understanding… tiis kunti!
