CFOWSO selects Outstanding Working Students in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines - The month of May marks the first founding anniversary of the Cebu Federation of Working Students Organizations (CFOWSO) which was founded last year by seven working students’ organizations from different colleges and universities within Metro Cebu which includes from USC, USJ-R, CIT-U, CTU, SWU, CNU and Benedicto College. The federation aims to promote inter-scholastic cooperation, camaraderie, social progress and mutual assistance through trainings, programs and recreations.

In lieu of the whole month celebration, CFOWSO will award Cebu’s Outstanding Working Students which will be taken care by the joint efforts of its Advisory Board headed by Mr. Jamie R. Regis, its Standing Committee headed by Ms. Lyka Rose Alcover and its Council of Presidents chaired by Mr. Erwin M. Alegado.

 The awardees were selected through nominations from different individuals in the academe and industry.

The Selection Day took place last Saturday May 11, 2013 at USC – Bonk Library in partnership with USC- American Corner which is also celebrating this year’s International Youth Month. The members of the panel of judges for this year’s selection included Mrs. Maxie Doreen L. Cabarron, Atty. Esteban C. Pascua and Mr. Lito L. Diones. They were tasked to scrutinize the nominees’ submitted profiles and credentials based on the following criteria: academic pursuits (30%), leadership, social responsibility, and personal development (40 %) and work performance (30%).

Awarding of this year’s Cebu’s Outstanding Working Students took place at the CFOWSO Foundation Day last May 19 at USC – North Campus. The event was filled with activities such as CFOWSO Got Factor, CFOWSO Parlor Games and Mr. and Ms. CFOWSO. (FREEMAN)
