Bond Prom

CEBU, Philippines - In the tradition of honoring their Grade 11 and 12 students, the Cebu International School (CIS) juniors and seniors  held their annual JS Prom recently at the Sta. Maria Ballroom of the Radisson Blu Hotel.

With the theme James Bond 007, the event started with pre-prom cocktails hosted by the school for the parents, students and teachers.  For starters, the juniors and seniors with their respective escorts were formally presented.  Ms. Jennifer Basa gave a warm welcome before the dinner then  a video presentation featuring messages from teachers, as well as highlights of past school year activities with the Juniors and Seniors entertained the audience during dinner. More lively entertainment from CIS band as they performed a Maroon 5 medley and ended with a theme song from the latest James Bond film, Skyfall.

The traditional candle lighting ceremony ensued, which symbolized the passing of the flame of leadership from the Seniors to the Juniors. Then Student Council Representatives Lieve Fay Aurelio and Kharynna Gonzaga (Grade 12) passed on the Key of Responsibility to Jade Hoksbergen and Julie Park (Grade 11).   Senior awards were presented by the Grade 11 Prom Committee members where each Grade 12 student was given an award based on the prophecies that the Juniors made.    It was the Seniors’ turn next as they gave their personal gifts to each Junior and offered words of encouragement and advice.    

Special awards for the night were given to: Erick Kim (Prom King) and Lieve Faye Aurelio (Prom Queen);  Jey Mondarte (Prom Prince) and Sunny Park (Prom Princess);  Ki Jun Park (Best Dressed Male Student) and Kharynna Gonzaga (Best Dressed Female Student);  Erin Park and Aaron Jang (Cutest Couple);  Mr. Robert Barry (Best Dressed Male Teacher) and Ms. Annabel Mabunay (Best Dressed Female Teacher).  

The night ended with a closing speech from Middle/High School Principal Mr. Neil Walton and a special dance presentation from the Grade 11 class.
