CX Notches 20 in Cebu!
CEBU, Philippines - Cathay Pacific Airways, the international flag carrier of Hong Kong, recently celebrated 20 years of service in Cebu with Mayor Michael Rama as guest of honor.
In light of its anniversary celebration, Cathay Pacific hosted an intimate cocktail reception at the upscale Atrium of SM Northwing and invited a select group of their frequent flyers, partners, friends from the industry and media.
The evening started with a specially prepared video that featured the carrier’s activities over the past 2 decades. Grace Ho, Cathay Pacific’s Manager in Cebu talked about the numerous awards and recognitions the airline received and of the ongoing chartered flights between Cebu and Hong Kong. She likewise shared their various outreach programs, the latest of which is an ongoing project to build a library at it’s “adopted schoolâ€, Po-o elementary School on Olango Island.
The event also served to recognize three employees who have been with the airline since the start of its flights to Cebu. They include Cebu Airport Services Manager Janice Nabua, Direct Sales Supervisor Lulu Son and Cargo Services Supervisor Henry Francisco. General Manager for Southeast Asia, Wilson Yam and Country Manager Philippines Martin Xu did the honors of presenting gold tokens to the loyal and dedicated staff.
Joining the celebration were Anna Thompson, Cathay’s first Manager in Cebu and Maggie Wong, immediate past manager of the port who flew in for the auspicious occasion.
In keeping with the evening’s theme of “bringing Cebu and Hong Kong closer togetherâ€, a fine selection of Chinese and Cebuano classical pieces was performed by the Cebu Philharmonic Orchestra and enjoyed by the guests.
As in most airline events, a round trip ticket from Cebu to Hong Kong was raffled off and the lucky winner was media friend Thea Rinen.
