IT’S A CATCH - Roberto E. Aboitiz - The Freeman

Hello, kids! What do you want to be when you grow up?

What are your dreams? What are your goals?

There is a book that can help you get started in working towards what you want to achieve in life. It is Akong Bugsay (My Paddle).

Akong Bugsay tells the story of a young boy named Andoy who went fishing with his father near Caubian Island to provide food for their family. Rough seas and big waves terrified Andoy, but with his father’s encouragement, he overcame his fear. Father and son continued to paddle until they reached their destination. But the challenge doesn’t stop there as they failed to catch fish in their first try. In the end, however, they were able to catch lots of fishes.

But what helped them do it? Yes, it’s the bugsay or the paddle. Without it, sailing in the sea called life would be next to impossible.

We all have dreams and ambitions and it is only when we use our bugsay, which can be our talents, skills, abilities, and opportunities, that we can move towards our goals.

Like Andoy we must work hard, plan well, and face challenges with patience, courage, and hope, knowing that success awaits in the horizon.
