Joyous Happenings

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor S. YNCLINO - The Freeman

Every December, we always look forward to seeing our dear friend, Ambassador Francisco L. Benedicto’s gathering of media friends…yes close media friends. He always calls us to invite us either to lunch or dinner.

This time around, Ambassador Frank had lunch at the GrandCon with Sam Costanilla organizing the lunch gathering. For us, it was so nice to see Frank once again.

Before we parted ways, Frank distributed a book – a photo collection of his tour of duty in India and Nepal from 2005 – 2010.

In another meeting, Frank introduced us to his good friend from way back – Noel M. Novicio, Director, Department of Foreign Affairs assigned in Beijing. Noel spoke highly of Frank especially when they were together in Beijing. Noel also told us that next year, U.S. President Barack Obama will be in the Philippines to attend the ASEAN Summit. PTL.

Another happening was Rey Remonde’s lunch at Casino Español de Cebu for close friends and relatives. Of course, wifey Ava was there to help entertain Rey’s friends.

Rey, the coordinator of Senatorial candidate Jack Enrile, spoke of him as a generous person who always help the underprivileged. When Rep. Jack comes to Cebu in January, for sure Rey will not be far behind.

In town for just a week’s stay were Dr. Jonathan Reboton and his wife Beth. Actually, they came to be sponsors at the wedding of RJ Dira and Kristina Yu. The couple had a side trip to Bangkok and Vigan before attending the wedding. Jon and Beth were with sister Bing and husband Gami Malazarte. And definitely, they’re now back in Las Vegas where they are residents for the last 30 years.
