CEBU, Philippines - Different people with their pets gathered at the Banilad Town Center last September 22 for the 1st Pawpalooza Cebu Pet Festival. Cuteness overload was all over the place — from the smallest Chihuahua to the huge Labrador. The afternoon was full of pawsome activities for the cute pets.
The Pawpalooza 2012 was a program that promotes responsible pet ownership through different enthralling activities for the pets and the pet owners, as well.
Free deworming, anti rabies vaccination and, nail trimming for the registered pets were offered by the Cebu City Department of Veterinary Medicine. This action is a stepping stone in order to achieve their desired goal — for Cebu City to reach 80% of vaccinated dogs by next year. The highlight of the event was the opening of the Pawsonalities photo exhibit featuring Cebu personalities and their beloved pets and what they can say about pet ownership.
Pawpalooza, in partnership with Shih Tzu Club of Cebu, organized a fund-raising fashion show where proceeds will be going to the Island Rescue Foundation (IRO), the first animal rescue non-profit organization in the province of Cebu. A number of the loveable pets, together with their pet owners flaunted very well on the runway as they show their fashionable and classy side.
The Philippine Dogs Athletic Association, the lead authority of dog agility in the Philippines, also stepped their paws on the event for the dog walk and agility demonstration. This is to strengthen the bond of the pets and the pet owners through proper training.
So kids, don’t take your pets for granted! Just like us, they also need to be loved truly and should be cared properly. Be a pet lover, not a pet owner! (FREEMAN)
