Havaiannas @ 50

The women behind the bringing of Havaianas to Cebu and the rest of Central and Eastern Visayas, A.L. Amizade's Leanne Florendo and Aimil Sarmiento, were at the helm when they welcomed all the guests composed of Cebu's movers and shakers, fashion designers, beauty queens and other notable personalities at the SM City Cebu Northwing Activity Area when Havaianas, the fashion staple that embodies the spirit of happiness and summer marked its 50th anniversary with another Make Your Own Havaianas event which is considered to be the most special MYOH so far.

 The special preview the day before it was opened to the public was hosted by the beautiful and articulate Mia Arcenas, one of Cebu's society royalettes. The Brazilian drum beats added to the festive atmosphere at the venue with the history and heritage theme appearing in every well thought of detail. A short presentation of the brand's history and exciting journey from its origins in Brazil in 1962 was presented.

Inspired by the Havaianas history, a very exciting and delicious spread of Hawaiian, Brazilian, Filipino and Japanese dishes, and not to mention the irresistible wasabi ice cream, were served during that late afternoon event. 

Especially made for Make Your Own Havaianas Philippines, the commemorative Estampas soles were truly a hit. Partnered with the embellishment pins featured this year were reminiscent of Havaianas' heritage such as the 1962 BrasilPinas and soccer ball. Not to mention the interesting aviators, golden heart, macaw, butterfly, crystals, "happiness" and letter pins. For every purchase of the Happiness pin, P100 went to Operation Smile Philippines. Personally, I had the "happiness", aviators, and the letter pins which spelled my name on my pair.

For fifty golden years, Havaianas has truly proven to be the iconic sole that never goes out of style! Cheers! (FREEMAN)
