September birthday celebrators

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor S. YNCLINO - The Philippine Star

Birthdays

Rey Carmelo Remonde came over to celebrate his birthday in Cebu with the usual "very close friends only" invites. The Chinese dinner held at the Ching Palace resto had the best Chinese cuisine we ever savored. A different kind indeed!

Anyway, the next day, Rey flew to Manila where the group of Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile was waiting for a luncheon gathering in his honor. Rey, of course was all agog with the gesture of the group.

Kim Paradero had a debut, sort of, on his birthday where Mom Malyne treated her son with a dinner at Tin Gow at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino. Kim's former classmates and current ones were in attendance.

The week after his birthday, Kim's Mom Malyne also celebrated her birthday with dinner at the now famous Shabu-Shabu Taiwan restaurant. The food was healthy and everyone had their fill.

Fr. Socrates Saldua of the San Carlos Seminary Mayor marked a milestone recently and his flock from Jesu Christi Community and other Catholic Communities were there to help him celebrate his 54th birthday. An ultra-workaholic priest, Fr. Soc just had a very successful concert featuring the Renaissance Band headed by Vic Suazo. Proceeds of the concert were earmarked to the scholarship of the Manna Ministry's 50 scholars, of which Fr. Soc is the founding chairman.

Images camera club presents "Ancient Worlds" photo exhibit

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Images Camera Club, the oldest existing photography club in Cebu, will hold a public display of photos taken from some of the most ancient cities of the world. These exquisite photos were taken from the club members' collection of pictures taken during their travels through the most exceptionally preserved ancient sites and civilizations on Earth.

Most of these ancient places are listed under the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and has retained most of its original features to an exceptional degree, and will be able to provide a remarkably complete picture of cultural, social, economic, political and religious development from the ancient times to the present.

The photographers contributing to this collection of Ancient Wonders are all members of the Cebu City Images Camera Club, established in April 1984, and composed of a mixed group of professionals, like businessmen, lawyers, doctors, dentists, architects, engineers, even students and, of course, photographers. They are united by a common passion for preservation of beauty and history through photography. This dedication to improving their craft and practicing their art has brought them to different corners of the globe. As a club, they gather and travel together to local and international sights, in pursuit of that perfect shot. This has earned the club multiple awards and recognitions.

This must-see photo exhibit of the Ancient Worlds will start on September 1 to 9, 2012 at the Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu.
