Answering the missionary call to help disseminate and celebrate the canonization of the second Filipino saint, Beato Pedro Calungsod, the private sector has come up with a Special Events Committee. In light of this very important church event, some well-meaning Cebuanos have volunteered to help raise funds for use in the expenses to be entailed for the Canonization Rites in the Vatican on October 21, 2012 and the National Thanksgiving Mass at the Cebu South Road Properties on November 30, 2012.
This group of volunteers have been organized and designated as Special Events Committee, duly appointed by the Committee on Finance headed by Msgr. Roberto "Boy" Alesna. The Special Events Committee has formulated a process by which donors can contribute and help in the fundraising effort for the Canonization of Beato Pedro Calungsod. Donations of P25,000 or more are being solicited from kindhearted donors who will be acknowledged through a numbered Certificate of Donation.
