Be part of the canonization of blessed Pedrong Calungsod
Answering the missionary call to help disseminate and celebrate the canonization of the second Filipino saint, Beato Pedro Calungsod, the private sector has come up with a Special Events Committee. In light of this very important church event, some well-meaning Cebuanos have volunteered to help raise funds for use in the expenses to be entailed for the Canonization Rites in the Vatican on October 21, 2012 and the National Thanksgiving Mass at the Cebu South Road Properties on November 30, 2012.
This group of volunteers have been organized and designated as Special Events Committee, duly appointed by the Committee on Finance headed by Msgr. Roberto "Boy" Alesna. The Special Events Committee has formulated a process by which donors can contribute and help in the fundraising effort for the Canonization of Beato Pedro Calungsod. Donations of P25,000 or more are being solicited from kindhearted donors who will be acknowledged through a numbered Certificate of Donation. Such certificate will also entitle the donor a limited edition commemorative piece designed by internationally acclaimed Cebuano, Kenneth Cobonpue, as well as afforded the chance to win two BMW cars ( a series and a 1 series) and a unit of KIA Sorento. Only 1,200 Certificate of Donations will be issued.

The Special Events Committee is composed of Chairperson Marlinda "Mayen" Angbetic Tan and Vice-Chairperson Carmel de Pio Salvador, Marissa Fernan as consultant with members Gino Salvador and Robby Alugar.
Anyway, the unveiling of the commemorative art design of Beato Pedro Calungsod by Kenneth Cobonpue at Radisson Blu Hotel, guests of honor were His Eminence Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, Mayor Michael Rama, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Msgr. Roberto Alesna, Msgr. Achilles Dakay, Dame Mariquita Salimbangon Yeung and Betty Cobonpue, mother of the artist.
