The iOS 6 Beta 1 for Developers

- Yasunari Ramon Suarez Taguchi - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - As a beta version, the release is NOT exactly an official update, but is inclined for the use and evaluation of developers in facilitating transitions and dealing with other potential issues related to the development of apps and/or software and hardware interactions.

The beta version release tells a lot about what iOS users have to expect from the official update once it comes out within the fall season (within September, October, November, and December) of 2012, presumed to come out in time with the release of the next iPhone incarnation.

Highlighting built-in Facebook integration - much to the tune over how Twitter support had been integrated into the system in previous builds - the beta also features Siri enhancements and add-ons, along with a "Do Not Disturb" function/feature which allows users to put notifications and/or calls into "silent mode". Enhanced maps are also an iOS 6 feature, along with an enhanced Passbook application.

The iOS 6 Beta 1 is designed to work with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPad 3, and iPod touch 4G, and, again, is NOT an update designed for end-users.

Though there is a Beta version for end-users, it is highly advised to wait for the official release of the iOS 6 before fully upgrading your mobile's operating system.

Beta versions are typically buggy, and updating your iDevice without any intention of testing apps which you had developed could lead to problems pertaining to the functionality of your gadget.

For developers though, you can road test your new apps on the iOS 6 Beta 1, in preparation for its official release within the year.

Drop by Apple's official website for details pertaining to the iOS 6 Beta 1, to learn more about what to expect from the release.
