Let's Cycle In The City

CEBU, Philippines - Cycling brings out all types of people-some ride for sport, some ride for the adrenaline rush zooming through hillside trails or rocky roads, and some ride their bikes for basic transportation. Should you bike for hard core sports or simply for recreation, there is no doubt that we can benefit from bicycling.

Cycling is one of the best activities for improving our health with benefits that are hard to beat. According to exercise journals and sports enthusiasts, cycling is one of the easiest ways to exercise. It also builds strength and muscle tone. It's good for our heart, great for our waistline, practices our coordination skills and improves mental health. Studies have also shown that bicycling has been associated with increased "life-years", even when adjusted for risks of injury through cycling.

Cycle in the City, a BTC fun ride and bikefest, invites all road bikers, mountain bikers, folding bikers, tandem bikers, BMX riders, groups of bicycle-loving friends or families to join the 25-Km ride tomorrow, June 16. Assembly is at 5:00am at the BTC parking lot. Registration is now ongoing at Bikecology. Registration fee is only P150. For more information, call Bikecology at 416 19 29. Banilad Town Center is a bike-friendly zone, one of the very few in Cebu. After the race, an unveiling of a bicycle parking area on BTC grounds await the riders and their family members as they return to BTC; plus prizes will also be given away. Special prizes will go to the rider who will be judged as Best in Fancy Attire, Youngest Biker and Oldest Biker; other fun categories are Biggest Group/Contingent, and Vintage Bike Award.
