Glitterati 2
CEBU, Philippines - A - List's and SM City Cebu's sequel to the highly ballyhooed Glitterati show two years ago closely evoked Gossip Girl mixed with Confessions of a Shopahalic. Dubbed Glitterati: Lifestyle on the Edge, the show featured once again Cebu's top albeit younger personalities with Cebu's top runway mannequins. All the personalities who walked the runway were female and are in their tweens to late teens. They were Ane Ugarte, Christelle Dychangco, Bea Garcia, Nikki Tilka, Lotte Schaap, Adi Ugarte, Audrey Wistehuff, Reona Ido, Justine Joseph and Phoebe Ann Smith. Citing different references from various looks that ranged from street chic and safari savvy to nautical stripes and pretty pastels, the fashion show featured the freshest looks from favorite SM City Cebu brands, including AC Angels Collection, Black Sheep, Closet Collection, Espada, Fish 18, The Flower Collection, Gems and Designs, Get Laud, Iora, Karimadon, Maldita, Plains and Prints, Reborn, Red Hot Chili Jeans, South Shores, Terranova, What a Girl Wants and XOXO.
Set in a two-tiered runway, the show came close to conveying its high drama. There were lean velvet and satin dresses pinned with estate jewels for a proper dinner, and even a floor-sweeping jersey cape — the perfect thing for quick after 6 getaways. The clothes seemed as rich as the cocktails served during the show: a bevy of luxe leather pieces served with beaded tops and accessories. Just try to sneak past this summer heat in naughty nautical striped jacket over a matching skirt and fuchsia chiffon blouse trimmed with bows. Retail brand designers explained that the fabrics were so lightweight that they took it easy on typically heavy embellishment yet these still came out uber chic.
“It's worth noting that several seasons ago Glitterati's launch was held for a super-elite group of 100 people, while the sequel's guests numbered more. (It's still a relatively tough ticket to score for those lucky enough to rub shoulders with Cebu's glitterati). The highly anticipated sequel didn't disappoint as options still ruled. Some came in a few fab body-hugging dresses and jeans that made legs look a mile long. The collections range of offerings has grown along with the guest list. There were jeweled clutches to expand on the handbag line while satin scarves and bejeweled blings and a rainbow of sandals and wedges from the shoe line, not to mention loosened silhouettes like the jersey sack dresses with swishing sounds every time the model moved. The trick now will be to maintain its distinct point of view. Glitterati 2, so far, so good, well, is getting better. Still craving for more sequels! Glitterati was also sponsored by: BMW, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, David’s Salon, Just Jewels and Classic Savory Restaurant. Bravissimo!
