CEBU, Philippines - Nestled 40 kilometers south of Dumaguete City, in the municipality of Siaton, is Antulang Beach Resort. Antulang is one of a kind.
Set in a sprawling seven-hectare property adorned with bright-colored bougainvillea, the resort features swimming pools, premium rooms and a winding staircase that leads to the beachfront with its powdery
white sand.
Getting to Antulang is easy. The resort has vans on standby at the Siaton Terminal Complex ready to take guests to the resort. This shuttle is included in packages offered by the resort. Those who want to go there on their own can take habal-habals (motorcycles -for-hire), which can also be found at the Siaton terminal. A habal-habal ride costs P75 per person.
I was very fortunate to experience Antulang because of my work. I do make-up for special events and was hired to service a wedding, which was to be held at the resort.
Foreign and local guests greeted our party upon arrival at the resort. The peaceful ambience was enough to convince me that this will indeed be an exciting work cum vacation.
We were to stay at the resort for two days. Since the wedding was not until the second day, our group immediately went for a swim and a tour of the resort after getting settled in our respective rooms. I could not believe that such a beautiful place exists. Antulang is indeed the perfect venue for functions such as weddings, parties and get-togethers. If you choose to hold an event there, you can choose from the many function rooms or outdoor areas.
Antulang is known as the perfect honeymoon getaway, which us why it is also a favorite of celebrities who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We had the chance to see the different rooms occupied by showbiz personalities such as Vina Morales and couple Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo, whose room was one of a kind since it sits on top of a huge rock formation and is surrounded by water. We were told that this was the place where Agoncillo proposed to Santos.
There are different activities that resort guests can do. Diving, kayaking, horseback riding and rappelling are offered along with scheduled cruises to famed Apo Island and nearby Tambobo Bay.
It was not easy saying goodbye to Antulang. But I know that someday, I will be back to enjoy the adventure and the peace it offers to its guests.
