My classes in ECEC

- Yinjin Noren -

CEBU, Philippines - For about three years now I have been going to the Exceptional Children's Educational Center (Talamban) for math tutorials. It all started when my school's third year high

He refused to acknowledge the fact that reading and understanding are two totally different things. My parents and I were recommended to come to ECEC by my psychiatrist. The time I spent in ECEC was definitely better than all the years I spent in my former high school. My math tutor is far more understanding and cooperative which makes it all the easier to learn what I need to know for college.

High school has been one of my biggest stress sources as far as I can tell but ECEC has helped me deal with that. I'm actually able to share some of my experiences with someone who actually understands what I went through. They even gave me a venting point for my stress: gym.

I always looked forward to coming to ECEC because I felt better being there than being in my school. I may have had a "personal formation tutor" but he was nothing but a problem for me. He caused me just as much "emptiness" as the teachers that I hated. My teacher in ECEC was definitely better to talk to, even his assistant teachers. They weren't just teachers to me – they were my friends.

I feel like I've changed since I started going there. I look at my friends in new ways and I can see that there are times when I'm just being used as their entertainment. My rage problems are becoming a little easier to control but there are still times when I feel like just giving in to my emotions would be the right path to take and just to hell with the consequences.

I enjoyed my time as an ECEC student and in the future I will definitely come back to visit whenever I have a chance. This was one of the few things that made my high school life bearable. (FREEMAN)
