2012 is banner year for Canon

Ryan Esguerra, head of operations of the Visayas Region, said that since Canon is celebrating its 15th year in the Philippines, it is part of the company's direction to reenergize and synergize its Visayas Region team, empower its sales representation by supplying the right people to meet increased monthly targets, and strengthen sales education and skills training by creating its fully renovated showroom and service center at The Gallery, Mabolo as a "center of knowledge and education involving internal and external customers."

In a tour at their newly renovated facility, Esguerra pointed out they would want to encourage customers to "touch and try" their products, or test them. The new service center also allows shortened turnaround of service days and more professionalized service team.

"We would want our customers to understand the product thoroughly and excite them with their varied unique features. For example, our small and handy cameras - the PowerShot A-Series - pack a wallop in function. Para they can maximize features and functions," he said.

Canon entry-level point and shoot cameras are now sold in retail for less than P4,000.

PowerShot A-Series products, for one, are trending these days because of their dynamic image stabilizer, creative filters, smart shutter, optical viewfinder, and blur reduction.

It was learned that the Dynamic IS (Image Stabilizer) helps us take videos with steady framing and less blur. The special lens-shift image stabilizer mode counters unwanted shake caused when filming while walking, allowing us to follow the action with less shudder.

Creative filters allow us to have fun with our photos and videos by creating images with greater impact or a different mood. Creative filters include: miniature effect, toy camera effect, super vivid, monochrome, fish-eye effect, and poster effect.

Smart shutter is a great way to trigger a shot without a remote or asking someone else to take it for us. Smile self-timer mode shoots once a smiling face is detected. Wink Self-Timer shoots two seconds after winking at the camera, while Face Self-Timer counts the faces in the scene and then takes the shot two seconds after the new face enters the frame.

The optical viewfinder lets us take photos using a more traditional stance. Depending on the shooting conditions, this can give us better stability and improve framing visibility when shooting under very bright conditions. As for blur reduction mode, this helps us capture pictures with less blur by intelligently selecting an optimal combination of fast shutter speed and high ISO sensitivity at a reduced pixel resolution.

Meanwhile, digital IXUS line of cameras are perfect for the fun loving and stylish individuals and most of all Canon has legion of fans for its Digital EOS professional cameras.

Another interesting product from Canon is the Selphy compact photo printer. This tool customizes photos with exciting layout variations. One can make a fun photo calendar, add a frame or speech bubbles. One can even decorate photos with icons and clip art. So this makes creative possibilities as endless as our delighted imagination!

Its "easy print" feature allows users to print from a USB flash drive and memory cards - including the SDXC card. Customers can also print directly from any PictBridge-compatible camera or from our computer.

Esguerra assures the machine can give us picture perfect, lab-quality photos. Because people would want to always look their best, there is the Image Optimize tool to it. This ensures optimal brightness and color cast for faces, while maintaining the correct background exposure. It also greatly reduces noise - particularly in skin tones - while the Smooth Skin function creates the ideal texture for consistently beautiful portrait shots.

Have you heard of Dye-Sub? The dye sublimation process employs a four-pass color printing process, using heat to transfer ink to the paper. It reproduces 16.8 million colors for truly breathtaking images. In addition, a durable overcoating protects prints from water spills and makes them resistant to smudges and fingerprints.
