Le Monet of Baguio

CEBU, Philippines - Baguio, one of the Philippines’ most spectacular destinations, is a land of rich contrasts and panoramic beauty. For first time travelers, the mere mention of Baguio easily conjures images of Mines View Park with its spectacular view of Benguet’s gold and copper mines, The Mansion, official summer residence of the Philippine President, the historic Kennon road, Lourdes Grotto, considered a favorite pilgrimage site, Camp John Hay with its pine tree-lined road, beautiful landscaping, quaint cottages and wide open spaces and the Philippine Military Academy, the military training school for the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The list is just never-ending. 

Baguio’s consistent growth and development has given rise to more hotels to take in the growing number of tourists and visitors. One such establishment is Le Monet Hotel perched upon a hilltop that offers guests some of the finest accommodations available in the country’s summer capital. 

Le Monet is a relatively conservative project with 70 well-appointed rooms. However, it sets itself apart from some of the larger hotels in the area by placing a strong emphasis on personalized service and guest privacy.

All rooms have private balconies opening up to a breathtaking view of pine trees and greenery. They are equipped with an LCD-internet TV, iHome alarm clock with iPod docking station, electronic lockset system, fully automated fire safety system, complimentary in-room internet access, mini bar, and a well-appointed bathroom with first-rate amenities.

During the recent grand opening, guests of honor such as Mayor Mauricio Domogan, Joy Belmonte Alimurong, Jaymie Eloise Agbayani, president and CEO of John Hay Management Corp. Kristine Meehan, president of Le Monet, former Deputy Speaker Eric Singson and lovely wife Grace did the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

As guests made their way to the lobby for cocktails, they were mesmerized by the cascading chandelier made with 30 thousand crystals. This work of art is a masterpiece by Song Myung Soo, a graduate from the College of Fine Arts and Design with a Major in Sculpture at the Wonkwang University in Iksan, South Korea. Soo finished his art studies at the Sculpture Department at the famed Hong-ik Graduate School in Seoul.

Invitees feasted on premium dishes that were masterfully created by Chefs Robby Goco and Jayme Natividad. The culinary artists worked with only the freshest ingredients and infused each creation with local flavors and spices. Their singular style of cuisine was presented in an atmosphere of casual refinement for sophisticated dining.

As the evening drew to a close, Kristine Singson Meehan, president of Le Monet Hotel and her husband Anthony Meehan, GM Dante Cruz , Ana Mendoza, director of sales and marketing and the entire staff received warm felicitations for a job truly well done. (FREEMAN)
