For the last 20 years or so, there never was a Masquerade Ball as grand, impressive and lavish as the recently held Masquerade Ball sponsored by the Beautiful Cebu Movement Foundation, Inc. (BCMFI). Led by the energetic and indefatigable duo, Chairman Mariquita Salimbangon Yeung and Vice Chair Margie Lhuillier, the fundraising affair, conceptualized by young Hong Kong businessman Martin Yeung, was a sell-out and a roaring success.
So beautifully decorated was the Grand Pacific Ballroom of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino that it got the oohs and ahs from more than 700 guests and participants who turned out en masse in their marvelous costumes and elegant gowns and out-of-this-world masks. Entertainment numbers were likened to Las Vegas shows with Martin Nievera and Pinky Marquez topping the show. But one outstanding and incredible violinist, Jake Gacang, played a beautiful repertoire that brought the house down. Director of the entertainment was no other than the one and only Junjet Primor who received kudos for the magnificent presentation.
Actually, BCMFI officers and members had a projected goal of P10 million, and lo and behold, this was achieved since the movement was able to raise P10 million…with still some collectibles coming up. BCMFI President, Atty. Joje Decal, and the members are so grateful to all the sponsors and donors who extended their wholehearted support to this movement. The ardent desire of the group to finish the project now on-going from Sanciangko to Fuente Osmeña will soon be realized.
With the success of the Masquerade Ball, the officers and all the members of Beautiful Cebu Movement Foundation, Inc. have readily agreed to have another ball next year…God willing!
